Mac’s IPL Team So Far...

Here is my team of the IPL so far.... (Let me know if you disagree!)

Shikhar Dwahan

8 Matches : 380 Runs @ 54 (HS: 92)

Easy pick, currently topping the run scorers list and is a reliable player in both the IPL and international cricket. If the tournament resumes, wouldn’t be surprised if he continues this form and scores more runs.

KL Rahul

7 Matches : 332 Runs @ 66 (HS: 91*)

After struggling for form in the international T20’s earlier in the year, Rahul has defiantly found his form in this IPL average 66. Expect to see more from this attacking young player in many years to come.

Prithvi Shaw

8 Matches : 308 Runs @ 39 (HS: 82)

The young superstar who came out and said that he doesn’t train during games when he is underperforming. Well from this seasons tournament whatever he seems to be doing is working. Averaging 40 while opening the batting with Shikhar at the Dehli Capitals, makes it no surprises that they are tournament leaders and favourites to take the title, should the comp return.

Jos Buttler

7 Matches : 254 @ 36 (HS: 124)

The overseas superstar from England who went absolutely nuts a week ago, smashing 124 of 62 rocks. No much needs to be said, can take the gloves if need be and is just an all round exceptional player, especially in the T20 format.

Sanju Samson

7 Matches 277 @ 46 (HS: 119)

A realiable batter from the last two seasons who has gone that step further this season. It was important that he did after his franchise the Rajasthani Royal let go of Australian superstar Steven Smith. Will only continue to improve and if his innings earlier this year in the International T20’s against Australia are anything to go by, he will be a 10-year player for India.

Moeen Ali

6 Matches 206 @ 34 (HS: 58) + 5W

The 1st of the Chennai Super Kings’ spin all rounder. Has been ever reliable with both the bat and ball.

Ravindra Jadeja

7 Matches : 131 @ 131 (HS: 62*) + 6W

The second twin of the CSK spinning all rounder. Not much needs to be said here. Coming off the thumb injury from that Mitch Starc thunderbolt earlier this year, Jadeja has continued his rich vein of form. A highlight of the tournament so far is during his innings of 62, he hit the last over for a total of 36 (which included a no-ball).

Chris Morris

7 matches : 14W @ 16 (BB:4/23)

The overseas star from South Africa has again turned out a high caliber performance for his Rajasthan Royals franchise. Expect the royals to push the higher teams such as the Capitals if the comp returns, with the likes of Sanju Samson and Morris performing at a high level.

Pat Cummins

7 Matches : 9W @ 26 (BB:3/24)

How could we not put in Australia #1 man from this past summer. The ever reliable superstar has done what has been needed of him at the Kolkata Knights. He also made an impressive 51* against the CSK in the early games of the comp.

Sam Curran

7 Matches : 9W @ 24 (BB:3/34)

The little left arm swinger from England has done his job well at CSK this season. Both opening the bowling and then coming back at the end, has performed admirably and is currently sitting 10th in the champion player stats and 5th in the bowling.

Harshal Patel

7 Matches : 17W @ 15 (BB:5/27)

The surprise of the tournament so far. Patel’s 17 wickets have come at an average of 15. The Medium Pacer has been the leader of the RCB attack, outbowling the likes of Kyle Jamison and Chahal. The leaders of the competition, Dehli Capitals traded Patel prior to this season, interesting choice seeing he is currently the leading wicket taker.

Notable Omissions

Faf du Plessis:

7 Matches 320 @ 60 (HS 95*)

Yes this may suprise a few that I have left him out. However I have gone with some youth in my top order, supported by some older experienced heads in Dhawan and Buttler.

Rashid Khan

7 Matches : 10W @ 17 (BB:3/36)

Big omission, but couldn’t justify picking him over Harshal Patel and the CSK spin twins (Jadeja and Ali).
